After a day of mediation in the Land and Environment Court during which Tony Coote gave evidence about the Trust’s objections to the proposed changes to the Hotel’s DA and Chris Hartley spoke about the objections of residents in Avenue Road, the Hotel agreed to make a number of changes to the plans.Council accepted the changes which allowed them to approve the DA without going to a full court hearing.

The changes include; increasing the setbacks from the stone cottage at No 62, reducing the width of the truck and carpark entry, accentuating the link between the hotel and the new building, increasing the set backs of the fourth storey and making revisions to the ground floor of the hotel to preserve the original curved bar.

While the Trust’s main objection to the proposal, which is its failure to respect the two-storey character of the village, the revisions agreed in the mediation are an improvement on what had been proposed.
